Festival Players Youth Mentorship Program

Festival Players of Prince Edward County is accepting applications to its newly announced Youth Mentorship Program. Up to 10 local young people, between the ages of 15 and 19, interested in various aspects of theatre will be paired with a professional from the Festival Players company in the field of their choice (acting, design, stage management, etc.), and will shadow them through the process of developing a show.  The Festival Players Youth Mentorship Program offers a number of hands-on workshops in various aspects of theatre.

Interested candidates should submit a letter of interest, explaining your experience/interest in theatre production and/or performance. If your letter of interest is chosen, Festival Players will call to set up an interview with you in order to determine further eligibility for the Youth Mentorship program. The deadline to submit a letter of interest is Wednesday May 21st 2008 at 5pm.

“It’s such a great opportunity,” says Artistic Director Sarah Phillips, “they get connected to professionals in a field that they are interested in, get invited into the process and given the kind of opportunity no educational institution can offer, are encouraged to ask questions, get involved, and leave the program with a sense of ownership for the Festival and a pride of accomplishment and place.  They leave with invaluable skills and experience in a professional setting. I’m thrilled that we’re getting this program off the ground this year.”

There is no charge for the participants to attend this program.  Support for the Youth Mentorship Program has come from the Ontario Trillium Foundation and the Rotary Club of Picton. Anyone interested in making a contribution to this program is encouraged to contact Festival Players at 613.471.1444.

Letters of interest can be submitted to info@festivalplayers.ca by Wednesday May 21st, 2008 @ 5pm. Anyone with questions about the Youth Mentorship Program can call Sarah Phillips at 613.471.1444 or email at the above address.
